Local attractions not far from Le Desert

The nearest village is Beny-Bocage (3 km) which has a pharmacy, bar, boulangerie/patisserie and epicerie and an excellent restaurant. Just 1km further on is the breathtaking Souleuvre Viaduct across the Vire gorge which has wooded park areas and Europe's highest bungee jump. For a good day out with the children visit one of the nearby zoos at Jurques or Champrepus. The nearest town is Vire 8km from the house with its famous tour de l'horloge, large weekly market, and four supermarkets. You're in the heart of Calvados - 45 to 90 minutes from the ferries at Cherbourg, Caen and St. Malo. Within easy reach are the wonderful beaches at Granville, the stunning Mont St Michel, the WW2 beaches of Normandy and the Bayeux Tapestry (31Km).

And this is the cider and cheese region of France and many restaurants offer mouth-watering traditional dishes using the local produce.
